AIA introduced javelin as a new event for track and field this year.  Senior Alex Brandt in his second competition threw the javelin 133’3” at the Husky Invite earning him 1st place but more importantly, an automatic ticket to the state meet in May.  Freshman Nicole Spencer-Walters continues to be a bright spot in girls’ field events.  She placed 10th in discus and is in provisional standing for the state meet.

On the track, junior Olivia Mountain took 3rd place in the 3200M race and junior Emma Norton nailed a big PR in the same race.  In the 800M and 1600M, freshman Sophia Hackett and sophomore Kelsey Gabriel logged new PRs.  Freshman Elena Sortino is looking strong in the hurdles with a new PR in the 300M.  Junior Kyle Blunt and sophomore Joe Briones both ran PR’s in the 3200M.  Sophomore Isaac Cheng grabbed 8th place and a PR in the 300M hurdles.

The Titans will compete again on Wednesday, March 21 at Saguaro HS.
